Victor is back...and more PT for Trev!

According to the latest Jim Johnson press conference, there is some significant changes along the D-Line. First, we are PUMPED to have Victor back and ready to contribute. Trevor is excited to have his ND roommate back with him. The only difference, is Vic may play more inside in a limited role until his wrist is fully healed.

The next big news is that Dan Klecko has moved back to offense, and Jim Johnson has said that Trevor will play a lot more, which is exciting news! Here are a couple specific JJ quotes on Trev:

On whether Abiamiri playing at tackle will affect Bunkley at all: "That won't affect him at all. We just have to get Trevor Laws in there more, that's all."

On how Laws is doing: "I think he's doing well. He's going to play some more. More and more every week it seems like he's getting better."

Saw this funny little nugget from Philly.com (full link):

Rookie defensive tackle Trevor Laws was not particularly affronted, or surprised, to see that some smarypants teammate had taped a newspaper ad with a photo of the Geico "caveman" over his locker stall yesterday.

Laws has dreads and a beard. This is not hte first time anyone has made the comparison.

"Ah, my face twin," Laws said, when he saw the ad. "I can't get mad. It's too true. Last year when we [Notre Dame] played Penn State, there was a plan with a Geico banner flying over the stadium. I got [bleep] the whole game."

It's probably better to look like the caveman than the like the little gecko, right?

Eagles lose close one, and Trevor leaves game early with injury

Eagles lose by 4 to the Cowboys last night in a thriller of a game. Trevor had to the leave the game early due to a deep thigh bruise. It happened on Trevor's second snap of the game. Romo fumbled in the endzone, and Trevor almost recovered the fumble, even getting his hands on it. During the play, Romo dove over Trevor and kneed him in the thigh.

He's hoping to be ready for next week against Pittsburgh. We will have an update later in the week.

Final preseason game is Thursday at 6:30 ET against the Jets. Trevor is actually starting since the starters are taking a break. Look for him to play just about the whole game. It should be both a physical and mental test for Trevor as he is still recovering from his foot injury.

Game is being replayed on NFL Network Friday night at 7 pm, and Saturday morning at 11 am ET if you want to catch a replay. Also, if you have SNY channel on DirecTV, it is being replayed at 11:30 ET Thursday night.

In an article from the PA Family Newspaper, Trevor is mentioned as the most impressive rookie. Here is the blurb:

Most Impressive Rookie

Last season, the Eagles entered Week 1 with Greg Lewis as the team's primary punt returner. The first punt kicked to him, in the first game of the season, resulted in a touchdown - for the Green Bay Packers. It was a sign of things to come, as the return game was simply brutal in 2007. Thus, the Eagles selected return specialist DeSean Jackson in the second round of this year's draft to solve those special teams woes. With blistering speed and reliable hands, he has not disappointed. As a bonus, the California product has been, arguably, the Eagles' top wide receiver at training camp. -BQ

While it's hard to argue with what DeSean Jackson has done, the nod here goes to Trevor Laws, who has displayed excellent mobility from the defensive tackle position and also has shown a great motor in the interior of the line. After missing the first week of training camp with a foot injury, Laws has skyrocketed up the Eagles' depth chart at defensive tackle, where he currently sits as the primary backup to Brodrick Bunkley and Mike Patterson. Along the way, Laws has passed veterans like Montae Reagor, Dan Klecko and Kimo von Oelhoffen, who has since been released by the team. -DS

Just a quick comment from DC Jim Johnson's press conference today:

On whether he sees improvement from DT Trevor Laws: "Yeah, I thought he had a good night the other day. For a rookie, he's picked it up pretty good. He fits those tackles; he's so much like (DTs Mike) Patterson and (Brodrick) Bunkley; that powerful, tight tackle, not real big. He did a good job the other night."

Trevor had another solid game in the win against the Panthers in his first ever home game. He played the entire 2nd half and came away with 2 solo tackles, including a tackle for loss (TFL). He put some pressure on the QB and disrupted a few run plays. Another overall solid performance from Trevor!

The Eagles lose 16-10 in the first preseason game of 2008. However, Trevor recorded 4 tackles, 2 solo and 1 sack in his first ever NFL contest. A nice debut for Trevor. Looking forward to the next game already.

TV for Friday's game (8/8/8)

Just a reminder that everyone can watch the Eagles first preseason game on NFL Network tomorrow, starting at 7:30 ET. Additionally, it will be broadcast in HD if you get NFL Network HD channel.

Trevor will play 2 1/2 quarters as two DTs are not making the trip with the team. So he should get a lot of action! Time to DO WORK!

Trevor finally got on the field during yesterday's afternoon practice. He said his foot was sore, but once he was on the field he tried not to even think about it. Hopefully the foot gets better and he can keep practicing. Check out the video and the article.
